imo Messenger Sees Significant Growth Potential in Saudi Arabia

imo, a world-renowned chat and instant messaging system has set its sight on the Saudi Arabia to further strengthen its presence in the region. A key reason for this is due to the fact that their users in the Kingdom are both very active on imo and constantly growing.

According to the Digital 2022 report on Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom had 29.30 million social media users in Saudi Arabia in January 2022 – which is equivalent to 82.3 percent of the total population. 27.66 million users accessing social media from a mobile in Saudi Arabia. The average number of social media accounts per internet user in Saudi Arabia is 10.4. Furthermore, the National Telecommunication Regulatory Agency stated that there was an increase in the use of mobile internet services by 46 percent during summer 2022.

“Saudi Arabia is an incredible nation with a rich culture, heritage and tradition,” said a spokesperson from imo. “The growth potential for not only imo, but mobile applications in general is quite appealing due to a highly active social environment. We launched several features over the past few years with the most recent being for the 92nd National Day of Saudi Arabia all of which were well received and achieved a significant amount of engagement. We are excited about the future of a mobile-first Saudi Arabia and looking forward to interacting with people that reside within the kingdom both now and in the foreseeable future.”

Every day, millions of people from Saudi Arabia use imo to communicate with their relatives and friends with the number of interactions per day exceeding 66,000,000. Furthermore, as it relates to the 92nd National Day of Saudi Arabia, the number of interactions on imo surpassed 74,000,000.

One of the features on imo is Story – a favorite among users in Saudi Arabia. Users from within the Kingdom publish millions of new contents within the Story feature daily, resulting in exposure in excess of 61,000,000 in one day. Furthermore, due to the introduction of the hidden menu function for National Day celebrations in Saudi Arabia, more than 360,000 people discovered and spread this hidden feature, which caused a lot of views and engagement whilst spreading the spirit of patriotism, joy, and togetherness.

“As a Saudi, the National Day is one of the days we look forward to as we proudly raise the flag to show the world,” said imo user Turki who was born and raised in Dammam Saudi Arabia. “As an imo user for years, being able to use this National Day feature with the flag shocked me. I was very excited and I sent it literally to everyone I know – it is little gestures like this that make me feel grateful and appreciative of both imo and the country that I am proud to call home.”

Globally, imo connects over 200 million users in 62 languages across more than 170 countries and regions around the world. In the Arabian Gulf, imo has more than 30 million MAUs, with the largest concentration in Saudi Arabia. imo is now looking to enter into more partnerships with content providers in the GCC region and beyond, with the aim of bringing more meaningful and authentic content to its users.
