Al Fardan Exchange L.L.C, the leading money transfer and currency exchange firm, licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is proud to announce that it will donate EGP1m to the Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357 (CCHE), also known as Hospital 57357. In addition, all Al Fardan Exchange branches will provide free of charge transfers to the 57357 Children’s Cancer Hospital Foundation until 31st March, 2023.

Hospital 57357 is unfortunately in danger of having to limit its ongoing work due to a lack of donations and funding combined with increasing costs due to inflation and other financial burdens on the hospital which have continued to worsen. The decline in funding has come hand in hand with exchange rate fluctuations, most notably the exponential rise of the United States’ Dollar in comparison to the Egyptian Pound. This has resulted in tripling the cost of treatment.

This is compounded by the drop in the number of donations made during this period which have plummeted by around 80 percent, in comparison to previous years. This has prompted Hospital 57357 to liquidate its final deposit in order to treat 18,000 children.

Hasan Fardan Al Fardan CEO of Al Fardan Exchange said: “We believe in the wonderful efforts being undertaken by the Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357 and are proud to support the work they do by making this contribution, but also by encouraging others to support the hospital which is why we are making any transfer made to Hospital 57357 though Al Fardan Exchange free of charge. We are proud to say we are the first exchange house in UAE to offer this.”

“Al Fardan Exchange is committed to supporting Hospital 57357 and encouraging the community to donate, so that the hospital can continue to provide free treatment services to save the largest number of patients. Through this donation and the provision of free of charge transfers, Al Fardan Exchange hopes to aid the hospital in overcoming its current challenges and continuing to serve the community,” he added.

Hospital 57357 is a unique healthcare institution and an ultimate example of what can be achieved when people work together for a common goal. The people of Egypt and their friends from all over the world, particularly in the Arab World, have contributed generously to the establishment of the hospital which has been completely built by voluntary donations. Egyptians from all walks of life rallied around the setting up of this state-of-the-art pediatric oncology hospital to achieve the dream of a better tomorrow for their children with cancer.

Not only is this project attempting to increase the childhood cancer survival rate in Egypt from less than an estimated 40% to the Western rates of 75-80% overall survival, it is also attempting to create a new system of healthcare where management and treatment utilize the most scientific approaches practiced today. Presently, after 14 years of operations the Hospital is recording a 71% average overall survival rate. It has become not merely a hospital but a leading example for healthcare, a change agent, and a comprehensive institution for fighting childhood cancer.
