E-commerce retail platform, Jumia have unveiled an infographic highlighting achievements of the Jumia Black Friday 2019 across Africa.
In an infographic unveiled just two weeks after the end of the Black Friday campaign, The month-long event attracted over 100 million unique visitors and over 1 billion page views to Jumia’s mobile apps & portals.
For the 1st time, groceries emerged the best top selling category, followed by Sports and Fitness, then Fashion and accessories followed by TVs, Audio & Video, while the Home Appliances category ranked fifth.
30% of orders during Black Friday was made via Jumia Pay, the digital payment solution by Jumia which is facilitating payment actions.
Regarding the Delivery, Jumia delivered over 3 millions packages during Black Friday, with approximately 33% of the packages delivered in less than 24 hours.
The infographic shows accelerated impact of Jumia Black Friday on entrepreneurs and the local economies. The campaign mobilized +5,000 full-time staff and provided employment for more than 50,000 people indirectly; through vendors and logistics partners. Furthermore, there were about 42,000 active consultants (JForce Agents) participating in the campaign (vs 20,000 during the same period in 2018).
Online marketplaces could create 3 million jobs in Africa by 2025, according to a BCG report published in March 2019.
