KLM, Royal Dutch Airlines, has announced that it will resume flights to Cairo on 9 September, with two flights per week, after 3 years of suspension.
In 2017, KLM last operated passenger flights to the Egyptian capital. KLM has continued to transport cargo between Amsterdam and Cairo all this time with freighter aircraft.
“After the suspension of our direct flights in January 2017, today we are proud and honored to announce resuming 2 direct flights per week between Cairo and Amsterdam; again, this announcement confirms that the Air France KLM group is continuously reinforcing its investment in Egypt, aiming to offer our Egyptian clients the best service and connections to our worldwide network. We have long history in Cairo, where we celebrate 90 Years of presence, since KLM’s first flight to Cairo is dated 28 September 1930”, says Matthieu Tetaud, General Manager Air France KLM Near East Region.
At this moment flights to Cairo are scheduled for the months of September and October. At the beginning of September a decision will be taken whether to continue the operation to Cairo during the winter season.
KLM is slowly and carefully expanding its European and intercontinental network. KLM’s first priority is to offer its customers as much choice of destinations as possible. This may be followed by an increase in the number of frequencies and/or capacity by deploying larger aircraft.

Naturally, KLM has taken measures to ensure that flights are safe for both passengers and staff. For example, mouth guards are mandatory when boarding and during the flight, extra hygiene equipment is on board and KLM’s aircraft are additionally cleaned using suitable cleaning agents. The air on board is quickly refreshed using HEPA filters.
