Orange Egypt announced the results of the 9th edition of the local competition ” Orange Social Venture Prize 2019″ for Middle East and Africa at the company’s headquarters.
A total of 55 startup projects were presented to the local competition launched by Orange Egypt in March and ended in May 2019, after their innovative projects were presented to a jury of leading experts. Three teams were selected from 10 teams:
The first winning team is Plastale who build low initial capital mini-factories that are equipped with plastic recycling machines that enable shredding processing of plastic waste.
The second team is Tajdeed who developed a Solar panels cleaning robot that is Automated & Accurate in keeping the quality & efficiency of the solar panels as long as possible.
The Third team is DUCO which encourages art and craftsmanship besides empowering urban appeal through managing and facilitating the production of murals while developing job opportunities for the creative workforce. The project also contributes to the creation of job opportunities for craftsmen and artists in several fields.
The three teams received seed funding for their projects and the necessary support provided by Orange Egypt. The 3 teams will compete against other contestants from Middle East and Africa to win Orange Social Venture grand prizes of Euro25K, Euro15K, or Euro10K.
By the end of the competition, Eng. Yasser Shaker , Orange Egypt CEO announced the winning teams and handed them the prizes presented by the company in appreciation and encouragement for their efforts and wished them all the best in the finals.
Ms. Hala Abdel Wadood, Head of Public Relations & Corporate Social Responsibility at Orange Egypt also praised the efforts exerted by all the participating teams and explained that they are all winners of their perseverance and ability to innovate, and she encouraged them to continue to excel to achieve their dreams.
Orange has announced the ” Orange Social Venture Prize 2019″ competition based on the use of ICTs, targeting young entrepreneurs and startups over the age of 21. The project should be an innovative idea, prototype or business for 3 years at the latest. The idea of the competition was based on innovation that contributes to the support of development, social and economic progress and digital transformation.
This award is in line with the strategy of Essentials 2020 and its social responsibility plan, which aims to benefit from the talent of the local community and invest in it, especially the leaders who are keen to support them through providing training programs and professional expertise that help transform their ideas into real projects on the ground.
